Lady’s Lunchtime Abandonment
Lady came out to the barn with me and, as usual, made herself comfortable on the couch.
When lunchtime rolled around, I headed back to the house to make something to eat. There was just one little problem…
I completely forgot Lady was still asleep on the couch!
I also forgot to open the doggie door so she could get outside while I was gone. I made my lunch, ate, and eventually wandered back out to the barn without realizing I had left anyone behind.
WOWZA!
The minute I walked through the door, Lady gave me a full Redbone Coonhound lecture. She barked, howled, and thoroughly chewed my butt—as if I had abandoned her for days instead of leaving her comfortably asleep through one lunchtime.
Before anyone worries, Lady had a bowl of fresh food and fresh water in the barn the entire time. She was safe, comfortable, and apparently well-rested enough to give me a very lengthy explanation of everything I had done wrong.
According to Lady, however, she was abandoned, neglected, and nearly starved.
For an entire lunchtime.
Lesson learned: Always count the dogs before leaving the barn—even when one of them is snoring on the couch!
Because every FarmHouse deserves a good laugh.
